Too Much Paper Continued...
Several ideas for managing paper that were shared with me (and that work) are:
- Touch the paper once rule - when you print a document, email or open mail, deal with it at that moment (read it, file it, process it, etc.) This will save you time and energy and reduce the building pile of “things to do”.
- Dot the top - put a dot at the top of each paper each time you touch it, it may be amazing how many times you touch a paper and avoid dealing with it. This will really support you in applying the touch the paper once rule.
- The famous 4D method of managing email and paper: Choose one of these four actions - Delete it, Do It, Delegate or Defer/Delay (and schedule time to come back to it).
