Welcome to the November edition of our newsletter! Winter is here - we now have snow. There is always something magical for me about the changing of the seasons. As one season ends, a new one begins, and each brings with it different transitions. This year, we put the sailboat and dock away in the snow - that is a first for us!
A team that involves a dog! While speaking at the Atlantic Human Resources Conference in September, we stayed at the Chocolate Lake Best Western hotel in Halifax and we were fascinated by their innovative approach to teamwork and business development. This hotel has a four legged team member - a chocolate lab named Cocoa, who is the official greeter at the hotel.
Chicken Soup for the Soul - Volunteering From the Heart
In early October we had the pleasure of attending the Success Principles Workshop and had a private meeting with our mentor, Jack Canfield, co-author of the Chicken Soup for the Soul Series. I presented Jack with a signed copy of his own book since the story I wrote titled "Volunteering from the Heart", was published in the new Chicken Soup for the Soul book, "What I Learned from the Dog" - this was definitely a highlight! Toby and Charmaine also enjoyed a highly successful book signing event at Chapters bookstore in Sherwood Park. We figure more than 85 people stopped by! Thank you all for your support. Toby’s website is now online - www.tobytales.com.

I recently read The Encore Effect by Mark Sandborn. Sandborn talks about the pyramid of possibility, which is such an important concept in teamwork and business. If you were to draw an inverted pyramid, here are the words that Sandborn states would go in the pyramid (starting from bottom to top): Potential, purpose, passion, principles, persistence, and personalization.

I attended a workshop in September with Patricia Fripp, a renowned and expert speaking and presentation skills coach and speaker. The event left me with many valuable reminders.
