Bounce Forward Tips for 2010 Continued...

Keeping the switch ON challenges us to create routines, and practices that support wellbeing, and work-life harmony.  In doing so you are keeping the resilience switch ON.  What is resilience and why is it so important?  Resilience is often explained as the ability to bounce back and recover after adversity.  I like to think of resilience as not only bouncing back and recovering, but really standing tall, leaning in and moving forward beyond change, challenge, conflict and adversity…essentially we bounce forward!  One key to sustainable, low stress and productive workplaces is a resilient team.  The more resilient the team, the more able the individuals can move forward beyond workplace issues and challenges to results.  In resilient teams:

  • Morale is higher
  • Productivity is maximized
  • Innovation increases
  • Relationships are strengthened
  • Teams move through tough issues more effectively

What inspires your resilience?  What approaches help you keep the resilience switch in the ON position?

  • Keep in mind that every day is an experience. When you approach life and work from this mindset you are more open to enjoy the learning… the experience.  How you deal with one experience impacts the next.
  • In the good and stable times prepare for what comes next.  When going through the more difficult times, stay on course on focus on solutions instead of becoming stuck in the problem.
  • Make a decision to keep the switch in the ON position.
  • Step into resilience: use courageous dialogue to have the conversations that matter most, take care of your physical health and find time for activities that you enjoy.
  • Learn to become more comfortable with what is uncomfortable for you.
  • Every day ensure you do one thing to refill your reserve tank – time for yourself, eating healthy, spending time with people who inspire you…whatever it is that fills your reserve tank.
